The Dukes of Hazzard

Rated 1.0

Nobody who plans to see this big-screen version of the 1979-1985 TV series is likely to care what any critic says, so let’s just say that the show’s fans will get their money’s worth. The car stunts that were the mainstay of the show are predictably over-the-top, cheerfully violating both the rules of the road and the laws of physics. Jonathan L. Davis and John O’Brien’s script is more profane and leering (now that the kids who loved the series have grown up), but it’s essentially the same dumbass yokel humor. As Luke and Bo Duke, Johnny Knoxville and Seann William Scott are, well, Johnny Knoxville and Seann William Scott, and Jessica Simpson’s best features are on prominent display as she plays sexy cousin Daisy. Jay Chandrasekhar (of the unfunny comedy troupe Broken Lizard) directs without wit or style.
