The drifting grifter
The classic musical Music Man will march into the River City with 76 trombones for a monthlong run. The endearing musical about a traveling con man who finds himself up against the heart and brains of a local librarian is set in 1912—which makes it an apt part of Sacramento City College’s centennial celebration. Beloved musical numbers include “76 Trombones,” “Gary, Indiana,” “You Got Trouble,” “Goodnight Ladies” and “Till There Was You.” 8 p.m. Friday, April 21, and Saturday, April 22, 2 p.m. Sunday, April 23; $10-$15. Art Court Theatre at Sacramento City College, 3835 Freeport Boulevard; www.citytheatre.net. Through May 14.
