The Devil’s Rejects
This review comes to you from a card-carrying member of the I Hate Rob Zombie’s House of 1000 Corpses pizza-party club. I hate that movie with a passion hitherto reserved for my hatred of canned string beans. Now comes this “sort of” sequel to Corpses, and it’s actually pretty good. The irritating band of serial killers from the first film, including Sid Haig as the deranged clown Capt. Spaulding, go on a torture tour with an interesting Southern rock soundtrack and far less of the artistic wanking that Zombie practiced the first time out. The result is a decent horror film for those who like their movies gross. Rest assured, there’s a good chunk of the population that finds this sort of film revolting, and those people’s blood will be boiling as the movie un-spools. Brutal, often funny and rather good-looking, it’s an exceptionally well-done sophomore effort from a man who made one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen. That’s a pretty decent accomplishment.
