The Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course
Steve Irwin, the Australian Discovery Channel celebrity who wrestles vehemently with crocodiles, snakes and other deadly animals while shouting wildly about it into the camera, displays his unique talent in his first feature film. Irwin’s exploits are amazing; too bad the story concocted by Holly Goldberg Sloan and director John Stainton is so utterly insipid (Irwin unwittingly tangles with spies searching for a fallen satellite the croc has swallowed) and the execution so inept—Stainton doesn’t even bother to match the screen size of footage of Irwin (and his equally game wife Terri) with scenes of other actors (mostly Australian nonentities sporting woeful American accents). The Irwins’ scenes are fascinating; the movie as a whole is cheap junk and an insult to their death-defying efforts.
