The Corporation

Zeitgeist Video

Corporations spend billions on advertising to propagate their image as benevolent and vital institutions. The Corporation deconstructs this persona by proposing that corporations are insane! The documentary uses a case-study approach to unveil corporate disdain for the environment, international law and human life itself. Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, Milton Friedman and Naomi Klein lend insight by citing myriad instances of sociopathic behavior. Shot on digital video (with a crisp small-screen transfer), the two-disc set has footage from Air America Radio interviews and commentary by the aforementioned experts, a screenwriter and the directors. The film’s epilogue, or “Prognosis,” speculates as to whether society can withstand increased corporate omnipresence: Will sustainability ever supplant profitability?
