The Capital City Classic

Catching a game or event at a sold-out Hughes Stadium at Sac City College is a unique experience. There used to be a lot of track-and-field events at Hughes, and athletes to this day swear that the stadium has one of the fastest tracks in the state—if not the nation. And then there’s football: This Saturday, two historically black colleges, Shaw University and Texas Southern University, will face off at Hughes for the Capital City Football Classic. But the game’s only part of the fun; a multicultural festival, gospel-choir show, R&B concert, battle of the bands, arts, crafts, food, games—a little something for everyone in the family.
