The bún chay try
People seemed to either love or hate Tamarind on J and 25th streets before its closure a few years ago. However, the Vietnamese eatery offered an inexpensive bún chay, a vegetarian noodle salad. Among the plethora of Asian restaurants on Stockton Boulevard, Quan Nem Ninh Hoa (6450 Stockton Boulevard) proves to be a suitable replacement bún chay dispensary. It’s one of the only four veg options on the menu, and the trough-sized bowl contains vermicelli rice noodles, lettuce, herbs, cucumber, daikon, crushed peanuts, fried tofu and a vinegar-soy dressing on the side. Basically, it’s yummy. So try stuffing your little vegetarian face with it.
