Tempted by a fruit
As we all get used to writing 2013 instead of 2012 on our checks—wait, who’s still using those?—there may be some vegans out there who have resolved to eat less processed junk food in the new year. Great idea. But some of these folks just might curse me for telling them how good Mamba Sour Fruit Chews are. Printed on the label in all caps, it proclaims its vegan-ness. Inside (with an excess of packaging, unfortunately), the rectangular candies colored with turmeric and paprika are similar to Starburst candies, but without the gelatin. So, sorry if you’re now tempted by a fruit chew of another, resolution makers. Grab a pack at Cottage Mart at 2130 51st Street.
