During World War I and World War II, victory gardens were promoted to aid people during turbulent economic times. Rising food prices and concerns about food safety caused many people to plant their own gardens. Now hard times are here again, and the Sacramento County UC Master Gardeners Victory Garden 2009 series aims to teach folks how it used to be done.
