Tap takeover
Oregon giant Deschutes Brewery deemed Sacramento's beer thirst great enough to be one of its six roving “Street Pub—Crafted for the Community” tour stops in the country. Hooray! From 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, November 14, the stretch of Capitol Avenue between 17th and 19th streets will be blocked off to host Deschutes' giant, 400-foot bar. Such a large bar is expected to hold a large number of taps, pouring both standard Deschutes favorites like Mirror Pond Pale Ale as well as rare offerings like the Abyss. Deschutes Brewery's chef Jeff Usinowicz will also be in tow, teaming up with locals Brock MacDonald of Block Butcher Bar and Wesley Nilssen of de Vere's Irish Pub to create dishes to pair with those brews. You'll have to purchase food and drinks, but entrance to the Street Pub is free. More at www.deschutesbrewery.com.
