Take part in art and partying
Back in March, the Verge Gallery and Studio Project closed the doors on its expansive studio and gallery space on 19th and V streets. While the still-vacant royal-blue building has now been painted a neutral eggshell hue, it looks like the painters missed a spot: the two-story high “VERGE” painted on the off-street side.
Now called Verge Center for the Arts, the organization has found an even bigger location downtown and is trying to raise funds to build 17 more artist studios and a printmaking lab, expand the bathrooms, and complete construction of a classroom. Check it out on Kickstarter or go to the Holiday Open House tonight. There’ll be a silent auction (dinner for two from Magpie Caterers Market and Cafe, anyone?) and music from DJ Scott Soriano. Rumor has is it that Santa, who is apparently procrastinating on overseeing the toy-making elves in the North Pole to party with a bunch of artists, will be there, too. If Santa cares this much about an art center in Sacramento, shouldn’t you?
