Take me to your (green) leader
The latest issue of Fast Company magazine says Sacramento’s on the verge of becoming a global green leader. But we’re not there yet. Looks like our Governator’s biodiesel hummer couldn’t outshine Chicago’s bounty of heat-reducing rooftop gardens. Or Portland’s hold on the most U.S. Green Building Council-certified structures. Or Vancouver, B.C.’s Ecodensity initiative to concentrate city building and preserve its forests. And green leader Stockholm, Sweden, boasts almost 2,500 green-sector companies. But seriously, the verge isn’t so bad. And if Sacramento’s Metro Chamber of Commerce sticks by last week’s promise to lead a charge for 20,000 new clean-energy technology jobs by 2015, we’ll surely inch closer to green leader reality.
