Tabouleh bully
Everyone has a favorite fast food. Mine happens to come from the Middle East. And while you can get an all-American sandwich at Deli Delight, a Midtown noshery at J and 22nd streets, your better bet is something slightly more Mediterranean—some spanakopita or dolmas, a falafel sandwich, or perhaps a serving of tabouleh. The latter, a salad, is my favorite; there’s something particularly refreshing about chopped parsley, cucumber, tomatoes and onion mixed with bulgur wheat and dashed with lemon juice. And it’s light—if you’re on a lunch break, you won’t be snoozing at your desk an hour later. Deli Delight has been doing business at its J Street location for almost two decades, but new owner Tarek Manaa took it over earlier this year. He’s remodeled the place, but he didn’t mess with the menu that much. This is a good thing.
