Super High Me

In this modestly ambitious documentary, comedian/stoner Doug Benson takes a Morgan Spurlock-style approach to studying the effects of marijuana. Benson, who was named High Times magazine’s No. 2 stoner stand-up comic (at No. 1, once again, was Ryan Stiles), abstains from weed for 30 days, then plies himself with it for 30 more days, taking a superficial battery of physical, emotional and psychic tests along the way. Meanwhile, the film follows Benson on his comedy tour with a few side stops to talk to medicinal-marijuana advocates, tour legal dispensaries and visit a 420 church. There isn’t much to Super High Me—it’s “based on a joke” by Benson—but it’s as affable as its star.
