Sunny outlook for solar
Gov. Jerry Brown recently signed into law ABX1 15, allowing new solar installations to be excluded from property-tax assessments. Signed June 28, the bill will help create a more business-friendly environment for solar-power companies. It’s already helping attract SunEdison, an industry-leading Baltimore-based company, to move to California. The bill was introduced by San Mateo Assemblyman Jerry Hill to clarify the types of financing incentives available for solar projects. It might also spur the creation of green jobs in California and solar-technology innovation. The bill revises existing tax law and goes into effect immediately.
