Sunday, June 7, Aquifer
The Press Club, 9 p.m., $6

I got a text message and it read: “This rapper used to be in the Taliban!” and I was stoked. “What a great story,” I thought, so I rushed inside Harlow’s, only to find Nick Bianco, Brannum Goldsmith and Tommy Fox—three bearded white rapper dudes who go by the moniker Aquifer—onstage, whereupon I realized that my friend’s text was complete bullshit. Anyway, no one in Aquifer needs to join the Taliban as some kind of gimmick to get media attention; their raps are solid enough in and of themselves. Don’t believe it? Then check out 2009 Sacramento Area Music Award “Outstanding Album/Release” nominated Room for Growth for proof. 2030 P Street.
