Sunday is your Lucky day

This is Lucky Peterson. He has good taste in threads and sounds.

Best-kept secret in town? My vote goes to the occasional blues party-shows that Sacramento Heritage Festival impresario Mike Balma throws at the Sacramento Horsemen’s Club, tucked away just west of Watt Avenue between I-80 and Business 80 at 3200 Longview Drive. The bands set up inside an old-style paneled lodge, and there’s room to move outside. Plus there are good food (barbecue and down-home, two of your three basic food groups) and drinks available. Balma has one going this Sunday, September 7, commencing at 2 p.m. with gospel from Stars of Glory, followed by blues from Alvon & the Allstars, and Florida guitarist-organist-pianist Lucky Peterson. It’s a great lineup for the price ($13 in advance or $15 at the door), and you can help Balma make back some of the $25,000 bath he took in 2002, when Game 7 of the Kings-Lakers series put a mean hurt on the Heritage Festival.
