Sun, Nov 7, Kelli Scarr
Luigi’s Fun Garden, 8 p.m., $5
Kelli Scarr just spent the last year touring and performing with Moby, but now it’s time for the singer-songwriter to come into her own with a musical sensibility that veers between electro beats and simple hook-laden orchestral pop. Originally from Folsom, Scarr now lives in Brooklyn and just released her debut album, Piece. Here, song such as “Break Up,” “Salt to the Sea” and “Anything” mine relationship dirt to excavate a range of emotions—love, hurt, anger and regret. The real gem here, however, is Scarr’s voice: clear, ethereal and sweet, but never precious or twee. 1050 20th Street, http://kelliscarrmusic.com.
