Sun, Aug 14, Questlove
Harlow’s, 10 p.m., $25
When he’s not sitting behind the drums or the engineering board for his band the Roots, or giving remarkably intelligent interviews to some lucky publication, Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson spins tracks on the deejay circuit. He’s not much of a turntablist, but club rap deejays rarely scratch, blend or manipulate beats anyway. What Questlove lacks in technical skills he makes up with excellent programming decisions. If it’s 12:30 and you’re dying to hear DJ Khaled’s “I’m on One” or A Tribe Called Quest’s “Check the Rhime,” then by God, he’ll play it at just the right moment. And stop staring at him! This is a party, so find someone to dance with. 2708 J Street, www.twitter.com/questlove.
