Summer lovin’—Greek style
Love Child is frothy fare delivered by two very funny fellows. We’re excusing the fact that the play itself leaves something to be desired—think zany, madcap, rollicking craziness that ensues during a play within a play based on the ancient Greek myth of Ion. What makes this a fun summer outing is the performances by two of the funniest, most energetic comic actors in town, David Pierini and Greg Alexander, who work as a cohesive team to portray 11 main characters. There is witty dialogue and an interesting delve into family dynamics (both Greek and modern), but it’s Pierini and Alexander’s nonstop pace, the ability to swiftly shift characters and characterizations, their incredible flexible faces, and the complete joy they throw into their performances that make this an enjoyable show.
