Remember the days of Taking Back Sunday and Brand New? That emo sound branded as alternative rock from the early 2000s has new life, with less screaming. Locally, look no further than young four-piece Streetlight Fire. Just take a listen to “Lost Cause” off its debut album The Sun Stands Still: “I lost a lot of blood breaking things I love over you/Was it worth your time?” There are similarly angsty, genre-appropriate references to scars, pain and failed love throughout the album, sung over crescendo-filled, melodic pop-punk.
