If an artist's work is a reflection of what's going on in his mind, then Gabriel Luis Perez has a lot in his. His mixed-media paintings are often frenetic, with layers upon layers of bold and dark paint that show an influence of street art, plus fabric and metal objects added to the surface. “Stormin Norman Por Siempre,” for example, has an army of curling white triangles attached to the canvas with open safety pins over a gritty, spray-paint-decorated freeway-underpassesque background, and dots of graffiti-style ink drippings over it all.

The Los Angeles-based artist is the first chosen to be featured in Broadway's new art gallery, En Em Art Space. Welcome to the neighborhood.
