Yes, gas prices are really, really high. In fact, almost everything is more expensive—in real dollars—than it has been at any time in the past. There is an exception, though. If the pain at the pump is getting to you, take consolation in knowing that the price of stamps is at least stable— in fact, the real cost is down from 1976.
