Some guys have all the luck

Some girls have really bad taste in men—and they all get a second helping in this Neil LaBute paen to one man’s mistreatment of women. LaBute’s familiar to both theater and filmgoers as the writer who gets up close and ugly with males behaving badly; in this case, Guy (Big Idea Theatre’s artistic director Kirk Blackinton) pays return visits to his former girlfriends in an attempt to make amends to the women with whom he’s been less than chivalrous. But some of these girls have had enough of bad boys, and when it comes to apologies, they’re not having any of it. LaBute’s historically unattractive portraits of men at their worst are, in this case, balanced by a chance for the women to sling some mud—and some good lines. Some Girls opens at Big Idea Theatre on Del Paso Boulevard this weekend, and runs through August 1.
