It’s hot in Africa. But Solar Cookers International turns that intense sunshine into aid for struggling refugees in Chad and communities in Kenya. SCI teaches these communities to pasteurize water and cook food using a solar oven, which offers a simple, efficient alternative to walking for hours in search of fuel. The organization will celebrate 20 years of spreading the solar word on Wednesday, September 12, at the Sacramento Zoo.
