Sixth Sense, The
Somber supernatural yarn about a young boy (Haley Osment) besieged by ghosts. Writer/director M. Night Shyamalan here mines the same territory explored by scenarist Bruce Rubin in
Ghost and
Jacob’s Ladder, though
The Sixth Sense spares us the goop of the former, and is less frenetic than the latter. Osment is excellent, as is Bruce Willis, as a melancholy child psychologist scarred by his failure with a similarly haunted youth, and Toni Collette, as the boy’s fiercely loyal mother.
