Sip some suds
The Davis Food Co-op has one of the most extensive beer selections available. It carries international beers and local brews, mild Pilsners and spicy IPAs, fruity beers and savory beers. Basically, it has everything you need to host your own brewfest. However, the abundance of varieties may prove daunting for any novice beer connoisseur. Thankfully, the Co-op hosts regular beer tastings, the proceeds of which usually support community programs. So that means you can expose your palate to new beers and do something good for the community. Who knew it could be so easy, or delicious?
The Davis Food Co-op’s tasting of beers from The Lost Abbey will be Friday, August 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. Cost is $1 per taste or $5 to taste the slate; profits benefit Davis Farm to School Connection. Davis Food Co-op, 620 G Street in Davis; (530) 758-2667; www.daviscoop.com.
