Silence is not an option
Got something to say? Do it at the inaugural Rant-a-thon, Read-a-thon, Speak-a-thon, Radical, Revolutionary, Progressive, Speak Up, Speak Out, Poetry Reading and Art Exhibit. Man, oh man, even the title of this event is a mouthful. This Saturday, folks are invited to climb up on their very own soapbox. Children and elders will be in attendance between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., so participants are encouraged to keep the subject matter clean and free of obscenities. For those who favor four-letter words and adult themes, there will be an adults-only event from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. It’ll cost you $1 to rant for a minute; you decide how many minutes you need. Spectators can hear it all for free. Proceeds will benefit mother-daughter poetry duo Straight Out Scribes. The ranting happens at KINKS International, located at 629 15th Street. Call (916) 452-1290 for more information or to sign up to rant.
