Side by Side by Sondheim

Rated 4.0

Good things come in this small revue, which features three singers, a pianist and an emcee presenting hits (and a few amusing oddities) from the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s by master lyricist and songwriter Stephen Sondheim. You’ll recognize classics like “Send in the Clowns,” but you’ll also giggle for naughty like numbers like “Can that Boy Foxtrot.” Cast members Alexandra Ralph, Bob Cooner and Ruth Phillips alternate beautifully through solo and ensemble numbers. Ultimately, it’s Sondheim’s craftsmanship and skill in musically illustrating relationships that gives these performers their chance to shine.
