Short review: Beehive
This jukebox musical at the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival is a tribute to songs made famous by girl groups in the early 1960s. It’s sweet and sunny, and the frothy music is enjoyable. But it doesn’t have a plot, or characters, so it’s closer to a lounge act than a play, which will disappoint some (though not all) theater-goers. Beehive alternates with Macbeth. Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun, 7:30pm. Through 8/26. $30-$99. Sand Harbor in Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park; 1-800-74-SHOWS; laketahoeshakespeare.com.
