She’s crafty

Amy Cluck is quite crafty. The IndieSacramento founder, entrepreneur and Web designer can pretty much make anything you can imagine. She’s been in the local indie craft scene for nearly five years now. As the founder of IndieSacramento, she’s helped throw trunk shows and craft bazaars since 2007, and her company has evolved into an online collective of artists, designers and craft makers. For its upcoming Craft Party, happening Friday night at Fremont Park, the local group will team up with Etsy, a national online marketplace for handmade and vintage goods.
Etsy’s global Craft Party began last year, with 5,000 people meeting up in more than 500 locations around the globe. The goal was to have neighbors come together and create something homemade and surprising. Sacramento’s party this year plans to be creative and unique, without even providing crafts for sale. Instead, there will be a photo booth, a potluck, a cupcake fondue, swag bags and an informal craft-supply swap. The Sacramento chapter of the Etsy Craft Party will happen Friday, June 10, at 6:30 p.m. in Fremont Park, 1515 Q Street. If you really want to purchase crafts, you only have to wait until Saturday, June 11, when there will be a craft fair called Getty Crafty, also in Fremont Park. Happening from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Getty Crafty supports the Getty Owl Foundation, whose mission is helping families and fighting spinal muscular atrophy. The fair will feature crafts booths, face painting, live music, food and massages.
