Sex Talks and actors schmooze
Local playwright, director and actress Gaelika Brown is the driving force behind this weekend’s production of Sex Talks, a woman-centered play that addresses, well, sex. It’s also concerned with romance, relationships and, yes, those uninvited and unfriendly guests, STDs. Brown’s three-woman show will have a very limited run at Sacramento State this weekend. Sex Talks is produced by Brown Theory Productions in collaboration with Sacramento State, the Sacramento State Student Health Center and the Women’s Resource Center. There are two performances; one at 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, and at 1 p.m. on Sunday, October 18. Both are in Hinde Auditorium in the Student Union on Sac State’s campus (6000 J Street). Tickets are $13 ($11 with college ID). The proceeds from the performances will benefit ovarian cancer research and awareness programs.
This weekend also features a fundraiser for the Actor’s Theatre of Sacramento, which celebrates its 20th season this year. Join Ed Claudio and company for sketches, one-acts, monologues and good food (from Supper Club and Ink Eats & Drinks) Sunday at 7 p.m. at the B Street Theatre, 2711 B Street. Tickets are $40; call (916) 501-6104 for more information.
