Severed Root
Teatro Espejo founder José Manuel Pickett takes a bit of history—the story of a priest and a seaman shipwrecked on the Yucatán and taken in by Mayans in the decade before the arrival of the conquistadors—and shows how what we think we know about the conquest of Mexico is only part of the story. The acting is a little hesitant, but overcome by battles, traditional Mayan dancing and music, and a fantastic set. It’s a pyramid. Really. Th-Sa 8pm; Su 2pm. Through 9/9. $15-$20.
