The power of lust keeps the age, class and cultural differences of two lovers temporarily at bay in this superbly acted French drama. A wealthy divorcee (Isabelle Huppert) invites a younger, bisexual hustler (a relentlessly intense Vincent Martinez) to live with her and then seeks out his former male lovers for insights into his mysterious past and guarded emotions. It’s a highly intriguing story in which sex both bonds and destroys relationships and people are simultaneously intimate and aloof. The exquisite Marthe Keller (Marathon Man, Bobby Deerfield) has a brief supporting role.
