Sat, Oct 2, Walking Spanish
Naked Lounge Downtown, 8:30 p.m., $6
Five-piece Walking Spanish—Alex Nelson, Timmy Picchi, Robert Mills II, Christopher Haislet, Tom Gunterman—have really made a name for themselves in town by mixing up rock genres, such as indie, blues, ska and ragtime, into one crowd-pleasing, uptempo set. All the band members come from distinct musical backgrounds, and singer Nelson rounds it out with a voice that’s simple but boasts a delicate edge that suits both ballads and rockers. This band plays a ton—they have shows at Marilyn’s on K and Naked Lounge Downtown this week—but its live show never bores. With Guns for San Sebastian. 1111 H Street, www.myspace.com/walkingspanish.
