Sat, May 28, The Ross Sea Party
TownHouse Lounge, 9 p.m., $5
The Ross Sea Party got its name from the failed 1914 trans-Antarctic exploration. People died, ships lost their moorings and they never accomplished what they set out to do (the expedition, not the band). That said, the Ross Sea Party might be the most polished act to set foot on the TownHouse stage this year. Its sound is clean and clear, with a range of influences that might excite fans of the Killers, Arcade Fire or Neil Young. Mostly, I’m excited about the glockenspiel. Shaun Slaughter will play his D.A.M.B. tracks and the Bank will sound like Lonely Island mixed with Wallpaper—Auto-Tuned dance and hilarity. 1517 21st Street, www.therossseaparty.com.
