I imagine the best course of action to get noticed in the music industry would be to try to stand out, not surround yourself with even more talented people. Yet this is not the case when it comes to John Vanderslice. He has been spending his illustrious career helping others jump-start theirs. Vanderslice’s all-analog Bay recording studio, Tiny Telephone, has overseen the emergence of bands such as Spoon, Death Cab for Cutie and Deerhoof.
