Sat, June 18, Lipstick vs. Blow Up USA
Blue Lamp, 9 p.m., $5
Going on two decades strong, Blow Up has outlived the Britpop genre that made it so dang popular when the club night launched some 18 years ago. Still, the tunes themselves, washed in U.K. ’90s nostalgia—from Suede to Blur to Pulp (pictured)—live on eternal, right? And so this weekend, Blow Up founder Paul Tunkin will cross the pond for a very special, rare appearance here in the City of Trees. Bring cash for vinyl he’ll be shilling. Stay for DJ Roger Carpio, DJ Shaun Slaughter and the debut live performance by Scouse Gits (featuring members of the Trouble Makers, Th’ Losin Streaks and the English Singles). 1400 Alhambra Boulevard, www.facebook.com/recordclubsacto.
