Sat, July 4, Hip-hop battle

The Boardwalk; 8 p.m.; $10 advance, $12 day of show

Let’s just say, this hip-hop battle is going to be random-ass to the third degree. First-degree randomness: Trigga Tre Mak (“Only enemies livin’ / I ain’t blast at yet”) vs. the Realists. (“Giving it our all / yeah no time for hesitation / sometimes you just know what you are made for”). Second, Trigga Tre Mak just performed in my high-school stamping grounds of Farmington, N.M.—a city where Coolio was too hardcore in the ’90s. Third, while most people spend the Fourth of July listening to “Born in the U.S.A.,” you can listen to Doey Rock, Anam8tion, Gezi, Black Science, Ill Effect, Indestre and 2-4-1 battle it out. Let the randomness begin. 9426 Greenback Lane in Orangevale, (916) 988-9247.
