Sat, July 17, Ana Tijoux
Sol Collective, 9 p.m., $10 advance
It’s hard to be more multicultural than Anita (or Ana, as she is called on her U.S. release) Tijoux. Born in France, because her family had to leave Chile during Augusto Pinochet’s reign, she not only speaks both French and Spanish, but raps in both languages. She spent the early 2000s as a part of the hip-hop act Makiza, but has been flying solo since 2006. It doesn’t matter if you can’t understand Spanish; Tijoux speaks the international language of awesome. Her sound is full and vibrant, and just as derived from her Latin roots as it is the early days of hip-hop. 2574 21st Street, www.myspace.com/anitatijoux.
