Three Los Angeles acts—Morgan Nagler of the Whispertown 2000, Jake Bellows of Neva Dinova, and the Heartstring Symphony—are the draw at this Second Saturday’s pizza-parlour party at Midtown’s Luigi’s. But Ellie Fortune, whose 2009 full-length, Matriarch, showcased great local songwriting, is worth a new look. Joining singer-guitarist Jesse Phillips is Joshua Ahlansberg (of Silver Darling), Kevin Dockter (formerly of the Evening Episode) and Teddy Briggs (of Appetite) to form what arguably might be referred to as a local “all star” indie-folk four-piece.
