Sat, Aug 6, Kill the Precedent
Harlow’s, 9 p.m., $10
Red Tape, Hoods and Diseptikons walk into a bar—no, but seriously, who knew members from staple Sacramento hardcore and punk bands would later combine forces to form the ultimate electro-metal supergroup Kill the Precedent? And although black, Zodiac Killer-like masks may prove intimidating for some, just listen to the band’s cover of the Smiths’ “Death of a Disco Dancer,” with guitarist Jesse Mitchell’s live-set addition of a perfectly timed video sequence featuring plenty of John Travolta’s moves from his Staying Alive days. KTP’s aggressive musical delivery is a must-see—performing with local metal veterans Will Haven. 2708 J Street, www.facebook.com/killtheprecedent.
