Blues music is one of the great quintessential American art forms, and it helped set the foundation for other musical genres such as rock, country and jazz to flourish internationally. This Saturday, the blues will be the star of an all-ages day of music featuring four bands: Island of Black and White (pictured), Earl Thomas and the Blues Ambassadors, Cole Fonseca and the Phoenix Jubilee, and the Candye Kane Band with Laura Chavez. The best part? Funds raised by the show will go toward sending the Sacramento Blues Society's winning entrance into the 2014 International Blues Challenge in Memphis. 3410 Westover Street, www.sacblues.com.
