Sat, April 24, Casey Neill & the Norway Rats
Sophia’s Thai Kitchen, 10 p.m., $3
Casey Neill & the Norway Rats will infiltrate downtown Davis with their fusion of rock, punk, Americana and Celtic styles. Yeah, it’s quite a mix. But what emerges isn’t chaos, especially with Neill’s voice invoking Ulysses Everett McGill. It’s a sound aged like fine wine: smooth, stands on its own legs and features a plethora of flavors from a variety of genres. “Radio Montana” should make it onto every summer road-trip playlist, with its mellow, almost melancholy guitar paired with light, airy keys. You can almost smell summer. 129 E Street in Davis; www.myspace.com/caseyneill.
