Sammies nominees announced!

The past 12 months have been up and down for the local music scene, yes, but the past is the past. Now—this week, this summer—there’s a wealth of great local shows lined up and new releases by area musicians slotted to drop. And this is what the Sacramento Area Music Awards is about: giving props to hardworking, talented artists. This year, however, it’s different: We let the public vote for the Sammies nominees. And vote they did: en masse, friggin’ thousands of nominations! (We had to count them all—thanks guys!) Anyway, we’re done, and next Wednesday, March 25, at The Press Club, we’ll be throwing a party and revealing 2009’s Sammies nominees. Pretty rad, eh? Oh, and they’ll be entertainment: hip-hop duo the Other Poets, rap troupe Live Manikins and emcee/beats combo Citystate. And if you’re pissed off, the SN&R crew will be there, ready to take a beat down.
