Sacramento Area Gardening Guide
Sacramento County UC Master Gardeners
Some of us can’t wait for spring, even though winter’s officially less than a month old. Still, there’s hope. The green-thumb people who make up the UC Cooperative Extension’s Sacramento County group of Master Gardeners have put together a beautiful gardening guide that doubles as a 15-month calendar. The photographs—taken by Sacramento resident Elizabeth Wise—are stunning, especially the dragonfly that graces the cover, and beneficial insects like dragonflies are the theme of this year’s guide. It’s also got seasonal maintenance tips for perennials and shrubs, as well as vegetable- and flower-seed planting schedules. It can be picked up for $14 at several local nurseries or by contacting the Master Gardeners at (916) 875-6913. Remember: In Sac, it’s always growing season.
