35th annual Fourth of July 5-Miler
A free 5-mile run/walk to celebrate Independence Day. Sign in is 7:15-7:45 a.m., the kids’ half-mile race begins at 7:45 a.m. and the 5-mile race begins at 8 a.m. Free. Su, 7/4, 7:45am. Eppie’s Great Race
The 37th annual no-swim triathlon for individuals and teams featuring a 5.82-mile run, 12.5-mile bike ride and 6.35-mile paddle along the American River Parkway in Rancho Cordova and Sacramento. Alzheimer’s Aid Society Memorial 5K Run/Walk
The third annual 5K run/walk from East Lawn Memorial Park through the Fabulous 40s neighborhood and back. There also are quarter- and half-mile kids’ fun runs. $25 for adults before July 18; $30 for adults after July 18; $16 for kids. Sa, 7/24, 8:30am. Pear Fair Run
A 5- and 10-mile cross-country race along back roads, pear orchards and vineyards in the Sacramento River Delta. There also is a free half-mile race for kids at 7:30 a.m. $25 for adults, $20 for those under 18 by July 20; $30 for adults, $25 for those under 18 on race day. Su, 7/25, 8am. Blood, Sweat and Beers Trail Run
A run in the American River Canyon along dirt mountain trails and canal systems, and over hills, rocks and roots. There is a long course (10.4 miles, with an elevation gain of 2,914 feet) and a short course (5.7 miles, with an elevation gain of 1,773 feet). Those who survive can enjoy post-race beers. Susan B. Anthony Women’s 5K Run 2010

Race for the Arts
The 12th annual race benefits nonprofit performing, cultural and visual arts organizations and school-based art, music and drama programs. There will be a 5K run/walk at 8:30 a.m. and a variety of kids’ fun runs beginning at 9:30 a.m. $25 for adults and $12 for kids 12 and under by August 11; $30 for adults, $15 for kids after August 11.
