Roman holiday
The Fair Oaks Theatre Festival stages an outdoor musical each year, and this year’s show is A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. Director Bob Irvin, who has been working with the Fair Oaks Festival for nearly a decade, takes the helm of this comedy about a Roman slave who hopes to earn his freedom by helping his young master find a beautiful girl. Many cast members from previous summers are also returning, including Ken Figeroid and Remo Gilbert. Performances are at 8:30 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays (plus Thurday shows on July 19 and 26) in the Veteran’s Memorial Amphitheatre at the corner of Fair Oaks Boulevard and California. $10 general, $8 students/seniors, and $4 children under 12. (916) 966-3683.
