Renaissance 916

March 18, Emerge Summit

It is an interesting time to live in Sacramento, as the city is in the midst of a cultural and entrepreneurial revitalization.

The way the folks at MetroEdge see it, there are many opportunities on the horizon—consider it a renaissance of sorts. MetroEdge, for the unitiated, is a networking hub for the 40-and-under professional set.

That will be the topic of discussion at the Emerge Summit, a collaborative effort between the Sacramento Metro Chamber and 10 different young-professional organizations.

There will be a number of workshops and speakers. Sacramento native Greta Gerwig will give the keynote address Friday, March 18, at the Memorial Auditorium. Gerwig, perhaps best known for her roles in Frances Ha (pictured) and Mistress America, is currently at work on directing her first feature, Lady Bird, which takes place in Sacramento.

The summit’s other two main speakers are Jay Sales, an innovation strategist who works at VSP Global and The Shop, companies that deal with the intersection of fashion and health; and Rob Stewart, a reporter, producer and PBS host for Rob On The Road. In addition, there’ll be seminars and networking opportunities held at various locations. $85-$100; 11 a.m. Friday, March 18, at Memorial Auditorium, 1515 J Street; (916) 552-6800; www.emergeypsummit.com.
