Reds and their raconteurs

Wine tasting often inspires drinkers to drive tipsy to the next location for another glass—unless they’ve found a hapless DD. Not so at the upcoming event at Beatnik Studios, Zinfandel Stories from the Sierra Foothills. On Sunday, April 8, from 3 to 6:30 p.m., the gallery will gather roughly 30 wineries—hailing from Amador, Calaveras, El Dorado, Placer and Nevada counties—to pour zins under the same roof. Winemakers will be on hand to tell the story of their vino’s making. To heighten the flavors, food pairings will be served by Dedrick’s Cheese of Placerville and Bella Familia Pizza of Rocklin, with the latter tossing its organic pies made of local ingredients. Tickets are $45 for nonmembers of Zinfandel Advocates & Producers, the organization that’s putting on this zinful storytime.
